PUL-I-ALAM (PANinfo-icon): The dead bodies of six ISAFinfo-icon contractors were found four days after their abduction in the central province of Logar, officials said on Saturday.

Nine workers of a company, clearing an ISAF base in Pul-i-Alam of garbage, were kidnapped four days back in the Charkh district of the province.

Six of the abducted workers were found dead on Friday night in Panduka and Shash Qala areas of the district, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two of the bodies were shifted by the security personnel, while the bodies of four others were still lying in the area. Hailing from Paktia, the men worked for the Afghan National Army (ANA) before being contracted by ISAF, he said.

Charkh district chief, Abdul Khalil Kamal, said he tried to secure their release through dialogue with militants, who killed the captives in response to an operation by ISAF soldiers.

Two fighters were killed and a third was detained during the operation on Friday, he said. They were in talks with the captors to release the three men still in their captivity, he added.
