District police chief shot dead in Ghazni
GHAZNI (PAN): The Aab Band district police chief was shot dead in southern Ghazni province on Saturday morning, security officials said.
Col Noor Alam was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike at 11am, Col. Zarawar Zahid, the Ghazni police head told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The armed motorcyclists assaulted the official in front of his house in the Bahlol Sahib area of Ghazni City, the provincial capital, Col. Zarawar Zahid said.
Alam died on the spot as a result of the attack, Zahid said, adding the assailants fled the scene and police were investigating the incident.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack.
