Blast claims 6 lives in Paktika
SHARAN (PAN): Six people were killed and nine others wounded in a roadside bombing in the southeastern province of Paktika, officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place late on Saturday when a pickup vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Karezgai area of the Barmal border district, the governor’s spokesman said.
Mukhlis Afghan told Pajhwok Afghan News six people, including two women, were killed and nine others wounded in the blast. The victims belonged to two families.
The injured were taken to health facilities of foreign troops.One of the females, Hukam Jani, was in critical condition, he said.
Two of the injured were in serious condition, a resident of the area, Saifullah Kharotai, said.
Separately, a five-member group of bomb planters were killed on Saturday night as a result of an airstrike by US-led coalition troops in the Yousufkhel district of the province.
Residents said they heard a heavy explosion late at night, but had no information about casualties.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the fighters had killed seven Afghan and foreign soldiers in an ambush in the district.
About the civilian casualties, he said the bomb was planted against Taliban in the area. He denied rebel fatalities
