JALALABAD (PAN): The foundation stone of a US-funded hospital was laid in the Surkhrod of eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, an official said.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) promised district authorities to construct the health facility three months ago, Director of Public Health Dr. Baz Muhammad Sherzad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the hospital would have Facilities such as electricity, water, waiting rooms and 17 beds. New buildings for clinics in Rodat, Behsud and Surkhrod districts would be constructed this year, he added.
A member of the district council, Nilofar Aziz, said almost 500,000 residents of the area had no health facilities. She demanded of health authorities to pay attention to the problem.
