Over 2,000 Jawzjan women learn tailoring
The women are attending tailoring courses, sponsored by Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) and the Humanitarian Aid Coordinator for Afghans.
Tailoring courses worth $625,000 (29,587,500 afs) have been launched in 25 villages of the province. Each project would account for $25,000 (1,183,500 afs), a COAR official told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Eng. Rahmatullah Rahmati promised participants would be given tailoring machine and other equipment after being trained for three months. The project is aimed at women's economic emancipation.
Shahla, 22, a resident of the Chaharshanba area, said she joined the course after graduating from high school.
Zahra 52, who lost her husband several years ago, said she previously did assorted chores to eke out a living. Happy with learning dressmaking, she hoped skill would make livelihood easier.
