Nangarhar, Kunar flood victims receive aid
JALALABAD/ASADABAD (PAN): Hundreds of flood-affected families received food and cash assistance in eastern Nangarhar and Kunar provinces on Monday, officials said.
Noor Agha Kamran, Momand Dara district chief, said nearly 340 families from Hazar Naw, Basul, Girdi Ghaus and Daman villages of Nangarhar were given food items by WFP.
The aid included 59 tonnes of Wheat, 55 tonnes of pulses, 130 tents and 130 dinner sets. Each family received 160 kilograms of wheat, 15 kg pulses and 15 kg of oil.
Kamran said as many as 1493 acres of cropped land and 657 metres of retaining walls were washed away in the past two days of flooding.
In neighbouring Kunar province, 200 flood-hit families from Khas Kunar, Sarkano, Chapa Dara, Manogi, Watapur and Sawakai districts were compensated.
Ghulam Ali Subat, ANDMA head for the province, said each affected family was paid 10,000 afs in cash.
