Afghanistan recognises new Libyan govt
The Cabinet of President Hamid Karzai directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday to accord recognition to Libya's transitional council, the source said.
The transitional council, which has shifted the capital Tripoli to Bin Ghazi, has already been recognised by the US, Russia, the United Kingdom, Tunisia and other states.
After the control of Tripoli by the council, headed by Mustafa Abdul Jalil, family members of former President Moamar Gaddafi fled to Algeria and Niger.
Meanwhile, a foreign ministry statement said: "The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan supports recent
developments in Libya and --- recognises the Transitional National Council as the legal
representative of the Libyan people."
