Sep 14, 2011 - 13:29

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): An International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) soldier died during an offensive engagement in eastern Afghanistaninfo-icon, the alliance said on Wednesday.

The servicemember's death, unrelated to yesterday's insurgent attacks in the capital, was announced in a brief statement from the ISAF Public Affairs Office.

In line with its policy, the NATOinfo-icon-led force neither disclosed the soldier's nationality nor the exact location of the engagement. Mostly, US forces are stationed in the east.

With the latest fatality, the number of international soldiers killed in Afghanistan so far during the current year has reached 431, compared to 711 in 2010.
