Elders to meet Karzai on Nangarhar problems
JALALABAD (PAN): Tribal elders from eastern Nangarhar province would meet President Karzai next week on power from to Jalalabad and dualisation of the Torkham-Jalalabad highway, the governor said on Thursday.
He had invited Afghan traders in Germany and the United Arab Emirate (UAE) to invest in their country, Gul Agha Sherzai told journalists in Jalalabad on his return from a month-long medical treatment abroad.
Afghans traders in both countries assured him that they would invest in construction of hospitals to international standard in Jalalabad, the governor said.
Almost 80 percent of formalities had been completed for the construction of a big housing scheme between Jalalabad and the Hadda bus stand, he added, identifying the no-availability of power as the main hurdle to investment.
Responding to a question regarding the construction of a second road and electricity supply from the Naghlu dam, Sherzai said he would meet the president along with other tribal elders and members of Wolesi Jirga and district council to discuss the problems.
