QALAT (PANinfo-icon): All government departments have agreed to submit monthly reports to the Zabul provincial council, officials said on Thursday.

The reports will help the provincial council identify problems of government departments and take steps for their solution.

A lawmaker from Zabul, Zalmay Zabuli, said he had discussed the problems of government institutions with the governor.

In order to resolve the problems, all departments including security forces agreed to report to the provincial council, he added.

"Problems will be highlighted in the reports before being discussed with the departments and ministries concerned," the Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon member said.

The decision was take for sake of transparency in government affairs, another public representative, Ghulam Farooq, said on behalf of the council.

Deputy Governor Mohammad Jan Rasulyar said it was the responsibility of the council to monitor activities of government departments.

He hoped: "The decision will bring efficiency to the departments besides ensuring regularity and punctuality among government servants."

Council members previously did monitor activities of the government, said a resident of Qalat City, Mohammad Siddiq. But the practice was later discontinued.

He asked public representatives to share the problems of the people with officials. Corruption should be eliminated and basic services ensured for the people, he demanded.
