3 militiamen killed in Nangarhar blast
JALALABAD (PAN): Three militiamen were killed and several others injured in a blast in the Sherzad district of eastern Nangarhar province on Friday, officials said.
The incident took place at a fair (Juma Bazaar) in the Toot area at about 11 am, killing three militiamen and injuring several others, said Col. Syed Wazir, the district police chief.
But the governor's spokesman, Ahmed Zia Abdulzai said there were no militias operating in the province, bordering Pakistan. The victims were ordinary people, he added.
Haji Muhammad Hasan, the administrative head of Khogyani district, confirmed the explosion and the fatalities. However, he had no information regarding the number of those injured.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
