34 militants killed, 8 captured
GARDEZ/KABUL: At least 34 militants have been killed during joint operations by Afghan and coalition forces over the past 24 hours, officials said on Friday.
Four fighters killed and a police official injured in a clash in the Madhkhel area in Chamkani district of south eastern Paktika province on Friday.
The Taliban attacked the policemen on their way to the Janikhel area, the district chief, Sadaat Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Arms and ammunitions were seized from the fighters.
In Kabul, the Ministry of Interior said 30 insurgents were killed in overnight operations in Faryab, Zabul, Uruzgan and Maidan Wardak provinces.
Another eight rebels were wounded and as many captured by the security forces, a statement from the ministry said. Two pistols, four AK-47s, explosives and 142 kilograms of drugs were seized.
