QUETTA (PANinfo-icon): More than 170 Afghan citizens have been detained in different areas of Pakistaninfo-icon's southwestern Balochistan province, police said on Saturday.

They were arrested in Quetta, Qala Abdullah, Chaman, Gwadar and Mastung districts on the charge of involvement in illegal activities, said

Abdullah Khan Asakzai, the Chaman police head.

A hundred Afghans were rounded up in Kuchlagh and Qala Abdullah areas while trying to enter Quetta, the provincial capital, he added. Most of the detainees are Pakhtuns, having no legal travel documents.

Another 71 Afghans were held in Gwadar and Mastung. But the Afghan Consulate in Quetta said it was unaware about the arrests.
