Kidnapped former governor freed
MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN): A former Maidan Wardak governor, who was abducted two days back in the capital of the central province, was released on Sunday.
Bismillah Omar, who served as governor during Babrak Karmal's rule, had been kidnapped while returning from a wedding ceremony in the Karimdad area of Nirkh district.
As a result of hectic efforts, tribal elders managed to secure Omar's release today, the governor's spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Shahidullah Shahid said no deal had been struck with the captors. Omar was reunited with his family, following his release.
