Prisoner found dead in Parwan jail

CHARIKARinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A prisoner was found dead the in the central jail of Parwan province, officials said on Sunday


Rahmatullah passed away on Saturday night, Jail Superintendent Col. Mohammad Mubin told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The 22-year-old had been detained two months ago on the charge of robbery. His body was evacuated to hospital for a forensic examination, said the Parwan police chief, Brig. Gen. Sher Ahmad Maldani.

Head of Parwan Civil Hospital Dr. Abdul Khalil Farhangi said there were no signs of torture on the prisoner's body.

As it was an unusual case, they took the body to the Kabulinfo-icon forensic department for a post-mortem, Farhangi added.

Currently, 290 prisoners, including 17 womeninfo-icon, are being held in the prison.
