Prisoner found dead in Parwan jail
Rahmatullah passed away on Saturday night, Jail Superintendent Col. Mohammad Mubin told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The 22-year-old had been detained two months ago on the charge of robbery. His body was evacuated to hospital for a forensic examination, said the Parwan police chief, Brig. Gen. Sher Ahmad Maldani.
Head of Parwan Civil Hospital Dr. Abdul Khalil Farhangi said there were no signs of torture on the prisoner's body.
As it was an unusual case, they took the body to the Kabul forensic department for a post-mortem, Farhangi added.
Currently, 290 prisoners, including 17 women, are being held in the prison.
