4 suspected rebels detained in Badakhshan
FAIZABAD (PAN): Four suspected fighters, who wanted to carry out an attack in coordination with an intelligence operative, were arrested in the northern province of Badakhshan, an official said on Monday.
The suspects include Qari Amruddin, Qari Mohibullah and Mohammad Younus, with the forth one yet to be identified, a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A suicide vest was also recovered from the fourth suspect, who was arrested in Baharak district, the official said, adding the detainees had confessed to being sent by the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan to assassinate a high ranking official.
Without naming the target, the source said an intelligence operative was helped the suspected militants. Detailed information would be shared with media on the completion of an investigation.
A day earlier, the National Directorate of Security said that five Taliban fighters had been captured in the remote province.
