Counterterrorism official killed in Kunduz
KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): The Khanabad district counterterrorism chief was killed and a council member injured in separate attacks in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Monday.
Gul Mohammad, the counterterrorism official, was ambushed late on Sunday while travelling to his home, Lt. Col. Sufi Habib, the district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Police have detained four suspects in the area in connection with the assassination, he said.
Elsewhere in the district, a district council member was injured along with his 25-year-old son in a roadside bombing, the police chief said.
Dayan, 55, and his son were traveling in the Charasyab area where a roadside bomb struck their motorcycle, Habib said, adding the victims' condition was stable.
As usual, a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying the counterterrorism chief and one of the bodyguards of the council member were killed.
