Sep 21, 2011 - 15:11

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PANinfo-icon): A policeman killed two of his colleagues and injured two others before he was shot dead in the northern province of Baghlan, officials said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at the police headquarters on Tuesday evening when a mentally disturbed policeman, Shafiq, opened fire on his colleagues, an official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity.

Two policemen were killed and as many others, including an officer, were injured. The attacker was gunned down by other policemen, he added.

"My comrades were playing volleyball inside the police headquarters when Shafiq opened fire on them," said a policeman, Azizullah. One of the wounded policemen is reportedly in critical condition.

"I heard gunshots in the evening inside the police headquarters," said a resident of the area, Mohammad, who goes by only one name. He saw two policemen shifted to hospital.
