Taliban commander killed after ISAF copter crash
The helicopter crashed in the Tangi area of the Taliban-infested district on August 6, killing 38 people on board, including 31 US Special Forces' members.
Qari Tahir, a local Taliban commander, was killed along with another associate in a joint Afghan and ISAF operation on Wednesday night, a statement from the NATO-led force said.
Besides the helicopter incident, Tahir was allegedly involved in various crimes, including kidnappings, car lifting and attacks on foreign troops in the area.
During the current year, 70 operations conducted in the district led to the killing of 70 militants and arrest of 80 others.
District chief, Dr. Muslim, confirmed the raid and said Qari Tahir was killed along with his brother and a friend.
