6 policemen wounded in Logar suicide attack
PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Six policemen, including two officers, were injured as suicide attackers struck a district headquarters in central Logar province on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The explosion happened in the Khoshi district centre at 1:30pm, Col. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lawanai, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A man and a woman crashed their explosives-laden car into the district headquarters gate, he said, adding a civilian was also wounded in the assault.
Bismillah Khoshiwal, the district chief, said the suicide attackers wanted to enter the building, but the policemen on duty stopped them.
"An explosives-laden car hit the district building before a heavy explosion took place," said witness Mohammadullah.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, claimed responsibility for the bombing but gave no details about casualties. He said four tonnes of explosives were used in the blast.
