Senate chairman's brother survives blast

Senate chairman's brother survives blast

Sep 24, 2011 - 12:00

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): A brother Meshrano Jirgainfo-icon Chairman Abdul Hadi Muslimyar escaped unhurt in a roadside bombing in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Saturday.

Younus, the Senate chairman's elder brother, was travelling in a convoy from Chaparhar district to Jalalabad on Friday evening when one of the vehicles struck a roadside bomb in the Hadda area of Behsud district.

The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Younus survived the attack, but two of his bodyguards were injured.

Muslimyar said the incident occurred when Younus was on his way to the Daulatzai area to meet his father. "The enemies of the country carried out such attacks as cause civilian casualties," he added.
