Explosives seized from ISAF supply truck
PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Explosives placed in a spare tyre were recovered from a truck carrying supplies for international troops in the central province of Logar on Sunday, an official said.
Police searched the truck in Mohammad Agha district and recovered explosives placed in a spare tyre, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The truck driver was detained for carrying the explosives that were possibly meant for an attack on the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) base in Pul-i-Alam, he said.
If the explosives had been detonated, many casualties would have happened, said Staff. Capt. Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai, the district police chief.
A technical team was sent to the area to defuse the explosives, he said, adding security personnel searched more than 80 trucks as a precautionary measure.
