KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A number of Meshrano Jirgainfo-icon (Senate) members on Sunday blamed the Pakistani intelligence agency for killing High Peace Councilinfo-icon Chairman Prof. Burhanuddin Rabbani.

The plot to assassinate Rabbani, who had inadequate security, was hatched by the Inter-Services Intelligence and implemented by Afghans, alleged a senator from Kabul, Khaliqdad Belaghi.

"Security forces must have grasped the attacker's motive -- whether he wanted peace or planned to carry out a terrorist act," Belaghi said, asking the chairman to summon security officials to answer questions on the subject.

A public representative from Bamyan, Hidayatullah Rahai, said all assassinated jihadi leaders killed opposed Pakistaninfo-icon's interests in the country. He demanded the government take up the issue with Pakistan, which always rejects such allegations.

Maulviinfo-icon Abdul Wahab Irfan, a member from northern Takhar province, without naming anyone, said intelligence agencies of neighbouring countries had hand in killing Rabbani. He urged the government to avoid delaying an investigation into the assassination.

Deputy Chairman Muhammad Alam Ezedyar, chairing the session, hit out at security forces for failing to maintain security.  Rabbani's murder be investigated by national and international commissions, he stressed.
