GHAZNI CITY (PANinfo-icon): Twenty-five Talibaninfo-icon militants were killed during clashes in the Ab Band district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.

The clashes happened in Randakhel, Baguli Kala and Kandikhel villages on the Kabulinfo-icon-Kandahar highway, where the Taliban stormed a logistics convoy, Brig. Gen. Zarawar Zahid, the provincial police chief, told a news conference.

As many as 25 militants were killed in a subsequent airstrike by the NATOinfo-icon-led International Security Assistance Force, the police chief said, adding the rebels' bodies were still lying at the scene.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, confirmed the loss of only three fighters. He claimed 14 guards of a private security company were killed and four vehicles torched in the battle.
