Abducted official freed in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (PAN): The National Stabilisation Programme head for the Khogyani district in eastern Nangarhar province was freed after two weeks of abduction, an official said on Tuesday.
Eng. Faizullah was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from the Bawali area of Surkh Rod district, Khogyani district chief, Mohammad Hasan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He was released as a result of mediation from tribal elders on Monday night, he said. No one has so far claimed responsibility for his kidnapping.
Police spokesman Hazrat Mohammad Zmaray and Surkh administrative head, Syed Ali Akbar, said they were unaware of Faizullah's release.
