Senators slam world silence on border flare-ups
KABUL (PAN): Meshrano Jirga (Senate) members on Tuesday condemned the international community's silence over Pakistani rocket attacks and urged the government to take stern action against the aggressor.
Pakistani forces have been shelling Kunar and Nuristan provinces over the last few days, causing life and property losses besides forcing a large number of families to migrate to safer places.
Speaking in the upper house, a member from Kunar province slammed the silence of the global fraternity as objectionable.
Rafiullah Haideri said some rockets hit US bases, but they refused to break their silence. A senator from Nuristan, Dr. Hazrat Shah Nuristani, condemned the attacks and said foreign forces in Afghanistan must defend its borders. "If they are not defending us, then what are their goals here?" he asked.
Nuristani demanded of the government to take action against Pakistan to prevent the aggression. Pakistan had always played a double game in Afghanistan and wanted to make the country its fifth province, alleged Maulvi Mahmud Danishjo, a member from northern Balkh province.
All Afghans would be standing by their government if it took any action against Pakistan, said a lawmaker from Paktia, Abdul Hanan Haqyun.
"We are waiting for the president's call.” The black Punjabis won't care about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan until we target Sindh and Punjab."
If the US was unable to act, they would ask Russia for help, the legislator warned.
Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar said the government was unable to take the matter seriously. The house would stand by the government in preventing the cross-border incursions, he added.
