152 Afghans detained in Paksitan
KARACHI (PAN): Pakistani police have arrested 152 Afghan nationals for staying illegally in Sindh province, officials said on Wednesday.
The arrests were made in the Hub area near the border between Sindh and Balochistan provinces on Tuesday, a police official said.
Azad Khan Sarki said that the detainees, having no travel or residence documents, had been sent to different prisons.
The Afghan Consulate in the port city of Karachi confirmed the arrests, saying 25 of the detainees were below 18 years.
Abdur Rauf Masoomi, the head of refugee affairs, said the men were not living in the southern city, the country's commercial hub.
The consulate had decided to consult a legal adviser and would try to have the Afghans released as soon as possible, the official said.
