Denmark promises aid to Helmand
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Denmark promised military and civilian aid to the Helmand provincial government on Thursday, an official said.
Danish Ambassador René Dinesen held out the promise during a short visit to the southern province, where he met Governor Gulab Mangal.
Addressing a joint press conference, the governor said the ambassador had reiterated his commitment to long-term support for the province.
Mangal added Denmark would help his government combat narcotics and the militancy. The ambassador also assured him of cooperation in police training and reconstruction.
Although Denmark would pull out its forces from Afghanistan with the passage of time, it would continue supporting the country, he said. Almost 750 Danish soldiers are stationed in the Greshk district under ISAF command.
