Minors among 7 militants detained in Helmand
In western Faryab province, a fighter was captured by residents after a clash in the Arab Aqsa area of Pashtunkot district, where the militants stormed a police checkpoint.
Syed Masoud Yaqubi, the provincial police spokesman, said civilians and police suffered no casualties in the incident. Four rebels were hiding in the village, said Abdul Qadir, the administrative head of Pashtonkot.
In Helmand, a National Directorate of Security (NDS) official said seven insurgents, including two minors and four commanders, were detained. The children were trained in planting bombs.
Weapons including 4 AK-47 rifles, a machine gun, three pistols, one landmine, a motorcycle, a car and explosives were recovered during the last two weeks, he said on condition of anonymity.
