Man shot to death on commander's orders

Man shot to death on commander's orders

Oct 01, 2011 - 17:44

CHAGHCHARAN (PANinfo-icon): An armed commander order the execution of a man in front of hundreds of residents in western Ghorinfo-icon province, an official said on Saturday.

Nawroz, a resident of Shahrak district, allegedly killed Juma Gul, with whose wife he had illicit relations, an official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity.

Later, the victim's relatives approached Mustafa, an illegal commander in the area, for justice. The commander captured the killer, who confessed to his crime, the source said.

Gul's wife said that Nawroz wanted to marry her, but she could not do so, with her husband alive, according to the official.

The commander ordered the victim's father to shoot the killer in front of the people.  Asked if the victim's wife was also punished, the official said he had no information in this regard.

Both the murderer and the victim were residents of the Sherzha village, said the deputy provincial council head, Abdul Qadir Rassouli, said.

A video clip sent to Pajhwok shows a large number of people, including children and elders, sitting under trees and seeing the accused being shot dead with a Kalashnikov.

Running his own court in the district, Mustafa has 400 armed men, said the deputy police chief, Col. Abdul Rashid Bashir.
