KHOST CITY (PAN): A stadium costing more than one million dollars has been inaugurated in southeastern Khost province, officials said.
Govern Abdul Jabbar Naeemi on Friday congratulated residents of the province on having a stadium in Khost, where the facility would help promote peace.
"We are inaugurating this place of recreation and peace. Khost youth have long been waiting for the opening ceremony," he said.
The stadium was constructed in three years with financial support from the Afghanistan Olympic Committee, Director Aziz Malang said.
Having race tracks, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as a cricket ground, the stadium has been constructed on 7.5 acres of land, he said, adding it had capacity for 18,000 spectators.
