2 trucks torched; driver killed in Balochistan
ISLAMABAD/ QUETTA (PAN): Unidentified gunmen torched two trucks carrying supplies for international troops in Afghanistan and killed one of the drivers in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday night when the drivers parked their vehicles and stayed at a hotel in the Mach area, police officer Matiullah told Pajhwok Afghan News.
One driver was killed while the other managed to escape, he said. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Separately, unidentified gunmen wounded the chairman of a local peace committee, Mohammad Idrees, and killed two of his guards in the Kabal area of the Swat Valley in northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a security official said on condition of anonymity.
Idrees said he was returning home after visiting security officials when unknown gunmen opened fire on him. The attacks managed to flee the scene due to darkness, he added.
Meanwhile, suspected militants blew up six CD/DVD shops in the Kanbar Bazaar of Maidan sub-district in Dir, said local police officer Saleem Marwat.
