KABUL (PAN): Thirty-seven militants were killed and 22 others detained in different provinces of the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.
The fighters suffered the casualties as a result of a dozen joint operations by Afghan National Army (ANA) and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), it said.
According to a statement from the MoI, the operations were conducted in Kabul, Laghman, Kandahar, Helmand, Maidan Wardak, Paktika, Paktia and Khost provinces.
Eleven AK-47 assault rifles, three rocket launchers, 16 anti-vehicle mines, four hand grenades, 190 kilograms of explosives, 345 kilograms of opium, 120 kilograms of hashish, three kilograms of heroin, two pistols and 17 bottles of alcoholic beverages were seized.
