20 picked for Kabul boxing squad
Forty boxing teams participated in the trials for the provincial squad that started on Sept. 27 at the National Olympic Committee.
Boxers in 10 categories, weighing less than 45 kilograms to 90 kg, participated in the event, with the top in each weight category selected for the under-18 team.
The boxing federation head, Dad Mohammad Painda Akhtari, told Pajhwok Afghan News the selected boxers would attend practice sessions twice a month to prepare for international contests.
At the end of the trials, presents, appreciation letters, medals, and uniforms were distributed to participants. More than 15,000 boxers, including 25 females in Kabul, are registered in 16 provinces.
