200 young women receive certificates
JALALABAD (PAN): Up to 200 female young women were awarded certificates on completing a six-month English language, computer and management skills training course in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.
Chosen on the basis of a test, participants of the USAID-funded belonged to Kunar, Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, Matiullah Amanzai, a spokesman for the agency in the eastern zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News on Monday.
Deputy Governor Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal and other government and donor community representatives attended the certificate-awarding ceremony, according to a USAID statement.
Women staff members from the Nangarhar Directorate of Women Affairs were among the graduates. "This training will play a significant role in the capacity building of women affairs staff. The management skills that they learned in this training will greatly increase their work efficiency,” said Director of Women Affairs Anisa Imran.
USAID provided training material and salaries of female trainers directly through the Afghan Institute of Business Management, a private educational institution, to encourage the long-term continuation of this type of training.
