Bomb on Bagram-bound truck defused
The bomb was fixed to a tanker carrying fuel for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), but intelligence operatives intercepted the vehicle before entering the Bagram Airfield (BAF) on Monday.
Brig. Gen. Sher Ahmad Maldani, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the tanker’s driver was detained. However, he was freed after initial investigations.
ISAF soldiers would have suffered heavy casualties if the bomb had reached its target, said Roshna Khalid, the governor's spokesman.
Separately, a schoolteacher, Abdul Jabbar, was killed on the Ishqabad Secondary School’s compound in Jabalus Saraj district by his cousin, said Col. Mohammad Masoom Farzayee, the district police chief.
He said the killer managed to escape and the motive behind the murder was not yet clear.
