Parwan flooding leaves 2 dead, 12 injured
Nearly 400 families were also displaced by the flash floods after hitting the Parcha Yazda area on the outskirts of Charikar on Tuesday night, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Sher Ahmad Muldani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Police had been deployed to the area to assist the affected families, he added.
According to officials, two children, aging 8 and 13, have died and six women as well as four children were among the injured.
Mohammad Azim, 45, a local resident, said his four rooms were damaged.
“I request that the government assist us and dozens of other affected families,” he said.
Another resident of the village, Ahmad Fayaz, said “The flooding came at 11pm, destroying our house. My mother and sister were injured when a timber collapsed on their shoulders, so we struggled to come out of our house.”
A delegation was appointed to timely assess the losses and damages caused, Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Pacha Gul said, explaining they would send blankets, tents, kitchen kits and food items to the area after the assessment was completed.
