KHOST CITY (PAN): A newly constructed bridge, linking several districts with the capital of southeastern Khost province, was inaugurated on Thursday, officials said.
The World Bank-funded bridge was constructed at a cost of 39 million afghanis, Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi told the inaugural ceremony.
Hundreds of thousands of people from six districts of Khost and Paktika provinces would benefit from the bridges, 140-metres long and nine metres wide, he added.
Zadran tribal council head for 10 districts, Fazal Rahim Rahimi, was happy over the reconstruction project, saying some of their transportation problems would be solved.
"We assure the government and the international community of security of development projects through our tribal militiamen," he added.
