3 militants killed, 4 detained in Zabul
The militants attacked a police checkpoint in the Chini area of Shah Joy district late on Thursday night, injuring a policeman, the provincial police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad told Pajhwok Afghan News three of the attackers were killed in retaliatory fire from Afghan security personnel.
Four guerrillas were detained by US-led coalition troops in Arghandab district and Qalat, the provincial capital, he added. A car, a motorcycle, a machinegun, two Kalashnikovs, and a walkie-talkie were recovered from the insurgents.
Meanwhile, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said they had detained several people on charges of having links to the rebels in Shah Joy district.
A Kalashnikov, two pistols and some explosives were recovered from the suspected militants, the NATO-led force said in a statement.
