SHARAN (PANinfo-icon): Twenty-nine militants have been killed during an operation by international troops in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.

The operation was conducted by International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) in the Barmal district on Friday, the governor's spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Mukhlis Afghan said 25 rebels, intended to attack a joint Afghan-foreign troops’ base in the district, were killed in ISAF airstrike.

Meanwhile, four suicide bombers, on board in an explosives-laden vehicle, were killed in the district when defied signals to stop at a checkpoint, about 50 metres of a military base they intended to attack, Afghan said.

He added the vehicle was also destroyed, explaining no casualties were inflicted on the joint force and civilians. The Talibaninfo-icon have not yet commented on the incident.
