29 militants killed in Paktika
SHARAN (PAN): Twenty-nine militants have been killed during an operation by international troops in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.
The operation was conducted by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the Barmal district on Friday, the governor's spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Mukhlis Afghan said 25 rebels, intended to attack a joint Afghan-foreign troops’ base in the district, were killed in ISAF airstrike.
Meanwhile, four suicide bombers, on board in an explosives-laden vehicle, were killed in the district when defied signals to stop at a checkpoint, about 50 metres of a military base they intended to attack, Afghan said.
He added the vehicle was also destroyed, explaining no casualties were inflicted on the joint force and civilians. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
