6 injured in Kunar cross-border shelling
ASADABAD (PAN): Six people were injured in Pakistani artillery barrage into the eastern province of Kunar, officials said.
Pakistani army fired 33 artillery shells on the province which 20 of them landed in Narai and 13 others in Dangam district, injuring six people, perishing 50 livestock and destroying three houses, the governor’s spokesman, Wasifullah Wasifi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He accused the Pakistani forces, who were recently stationed in Dir and Chatral districts, of firing the shells on the bordering areas.
The issue was solved in the past using diplomatic channels, but the Pakistan forces once again resumed the attacks, he added.
Since March 22, 2011, the Pakistani soldiers have been firing artillery shells on Afghanistan interpedently, inflicting heavy casualties on locals.
Two weeks ago, Pakistani Ambassador Saddiq Khan was summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to communicate the issue with his government and stop the attacks. But the recent attacks showed that Pakistani is defiant over the issue.
