9 rebels killed, 11 held in security operations
Featuring Afghan Nation Police (ANP), Afghan National Army (ANA), National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) members, the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Jawzjan, Kandahar, Badghis, Baghlan, Nimroz, Zabul, Uruzgan and Ghazni provinces over the past 24 hours, the ministry said in a statement
Nine armed insurgents were killed, 11 others detained and seized two AK-47 rifles, one rocket launcher, 40 pistols, four anti-vehicle mines, one kg of heroin, 20kg explosives, two radio handsets and one vehicle during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign forces in Laghman, the statement added.
Meanwhile, security forces had confiscated seven anti-vehicle mines, one PK machine gun, two walkie-talkies, some explosives, three BM-1 shells, one missile, 35kg crystal and 2-kg heroin as a result of separate operations in Nangarhar, Jawzjan, Kandahar, Badghis, Baghlan, Nimroz, Zabul, Uruzgan and Ghazni provinces, the statement explained
