District chief survives bomb blast in Zabul
QALAT (PAN): The Administrative head of the Shinkai district in southern Zabul province survived a roadside bombing, but two of his bodyguards were wounded on Saturday, an official said.
The incident occurred in Loy Shara village of Syuri area when a roadside bomb struck Noor Mohammad’s vehicle at around1:30 pm, Mohammad Jan Rasulyar, the deputy governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Rasulyar said Mohammad escaped unhurt, but his two bodyguards were injured and later taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement that they had arrested two rebels, including a commander, in an operation in Qalat, the capital of Zabul.
The commander was responsible for kidnapping civilians and bombings, the statement concluded. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
