Iranian detained for drug trafficking

ZARANJ (PANinfo-icon): An Iranian national was detained with 55 kilograms of drugs in southwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Saturday.

The detainee was known as Jafar, who was arrested by border police on Friday night near the Afghan-Iran border at Abrisham Bridge, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabar Purdali, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The drug trafficker had placed 40kg of crystal (a refined type of heroin) and 15kg of heroin inside a tyre of truck, but were seized by police, he added.

The detainee confessed to his crime during the initial investigations, he conceded.
