4 insurgents killed: MoI
KABUL (PAN): Four insurgents were killed, a fifth wounded and three others arrested during joint security operations by Afghan and foreign forces in several provinces over the past 24 hours, the interior ministry said on Monday.
Personnel from Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and Coalition forces launched three joint operations in surrounding areas of Nangarhar, Kandahar and Ghazni provinces, the ministry said in a statement.
As a result of these operations, four armed insurgent were killed, one wounded and three others arrested by Afghan police, it said.
The operations also resulted in destruction of a narcotic factory and discovery of two radio handsets, two rocket launchers, 4 AK-47 assault rifles, 94 heavy bullets, two pistols, 4,305 light bullets, 4 anti-vehicle mines, 6 hand grenades, 440kg of narcotics, 45kg of IEDs, three rifles, 40kg of carbon and one vehicle, it said.
In southwestern Farah province, the statement said Afghan National Police arrested a smuggler with 30kg of narcotic in surrounding areas of the Lash Join District.
It also said 20 82mm artillery shells, 29 RPG-7 rockets, two drums 30kg full of explosives, 11 BM-1 bullets, 22 rounds mortar mines, 3 anti-vehicle mines, 4 hand grenades, 384 bottles of alcoholic beverages and 180 PKM bullets were discovered and confiscated by Afghan police during the period in Kabul and Uruzgan provinces.
Meanwhile, police arrested 12 individuals accused of killing, beating, robbery, trafficking alcoholic beverages and carrying illegal weapons in Kabul province.
