4 workers with French organization abducted
MAIMANA (PAN): Unidentified gunmen abducted four Afghans working for a French organization in northern Faryab province on Monday, officials said.
The four workers of Agency for Technical Co-operation and Development (ACTED) were kidnapped on their way back from work in Almar district, the district chief, Mohammad Omar, said.
Efforts had been launched with the help of local tribal elders to rescue the captives, he said, hoping the abductees would be released as soon as possible. The workers had not informed police before leaving the site, police chief, Col. Baryalai Parwani, said.
The adduction took place in Najar village.
No report had so far been received about the fate of the workers, a regional official of the organization, Ahmad Javid, said.
No group had so far asserted responsibility for the abduction.
