KABUL (PAN): Dr. Maliha, a daughter of the ex-king Ghazi Amanullah Khan, the hero of Afghanistan’s Independence, passed away in Turkey, a government news agency reported on Monday.
Maliha, 91, passed on of a disease she has long suffered and laid to rest in Astanbol, the capital of Turkey, Government News Agency Bakhtar said quoting the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Peace Establishment Committee head, Prof. Sibghatullah Mujaddedi, Afghan embassy advisor in Turkey, Mehtar Humayoon Kamgar, Afghan General-Council in Istanbul, Mohammad Sarwar Mujaddedi and as many other Afghans in Turkey attended her funeral ceremony, the foreign ministry said.
Born on April 13, 1920 in Kabul, Dr. Maliha was the third daughter of Ghazi Amanullah Khan.
She received the primary education in Rome, the capital of Italy, and graduated from the Surgery Department-Gynecology in 1955 in a Turkish University
A mother of a son, she married a Turkish engineer, Mohammad Tahir Sakir, a close relative of former Turkish president Jalal Babar.
