KABUL (PAN): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Afghanistan in one-day Intercontinental Cup match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, an official said on Tuesday.
The host, who won the toss and elected to bat first, was restricted to 198 runs in the stipulated 50 overs game, Afghan Cricket Board member and spokesman, Farid Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone from Sharjah.
At the beginning of the game, the AUE players performed well but later the Afghan bowlers bundled them out for 198 runs in 45 overs, he said.
For Afghanistan, Karim Sadeq and Dowlat Zadran captured three wickets each, Nabi Esakhel, Samiullah Shinwari, and Javed Ahmad got one wicket each, he said, adding Afghan players could not reach the target and all were out by 183 runs in 48 overs.
Gul-buddin Nayab scored 43, Nabi Essakhel 39, Mohammad Sherzad 27 and Nawroz Mangal 22 scores, Hotak concluded.
