JALALABAD (PAN): Construction work on a 12-kilometer road connecting two districts in eastern Nuristan province was launched on Tuesday, officials said.
About 200 youth from Paroon, the provincial capital, and Wama district were provided work opportunities in the project, governor Tamim Nuristani told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone.
First phase of the construction work would be completed with support from the Public Welfare Ministry and provincial reconstruction team (PRT), while funds for the second phase would be sought, he said.
Provincial Public Welfare Director Eng. Zabit Khan said the construction work would cost three million afghanis ($ 62,513) being provided by the ministry concerned.
The project would be completed before the snowfall begins this year. He said foot paths and drainage systems along the road would also be constructed.
