Four civilians killed in Badghis
QALA-I-NAW: (PAN): Four civilians were killed in a traffic accident and in a militant attack in northeastern Badghis province, officials said on Wednesday.
The traffic accident took place late on Tuesday when a van travelling from the Ahmadzai area of Moqur district towards Sang Aatash area skidded off the road and plunged into a river, Col. Mohammad Jabar, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The dead included a woman and a child and five others people in the vehicle were injured, he said.
The injured included three women and two men, who were taken to a nearby hospital.
Abdul Aziz, a doctor on duty at the central hospital, confirmed receiving five injured people, saying they are in a stable condition.
Elsewhere in the province, two civilians were killed when Taliban opened fire on their vehicle in the Bala Murghab district, the police chief said.
The incident took place in the Band-i-Magan area, he said. The identity of the slain people was yet to be established. Their bodies were shifted to the district police eadquarters.
