QALA-I-NAW: (PANinfo-icon): Four civilians were killed in a traffic accident and in a militant attack in northeastern Badghis province, officials said on Wednesday.

The traffic accident took place late on Tuesday when a van travelling from the Ahmadzai area of Moqur district towards Sang Aatash area skidded off the road and plunged into a river, Col. Mohammad Jabar, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The dead included a woman and a child and five others people in the vehicle were injured, he said.

The injured included three womeninfo-icon and two men, who were taken to a nearby hospital.

Abdul Aziz, a doctor on duty at the central hospital, confirmed receiving five injured people, saying they are in a stable condition.

Elsewhere in the province, two civilians were killed when Talibaninfo-icon opened fire on their vehicle in the Bala Murghab district, the police chief said.

The incident took place in the Band-i-Magan area, he said. The identity of the slain people was yet to be established. Their bodies were shifted to the district police eadquarters.
